Desalination

DesalinationTurn sea water in to fresh potable usable freshwater with our sea water desalination units.

Desalination, desalinization, or desalinisation refers to any of several processes that remove excess salt and other minerals from water. Desalination may also refer to the removal of salts and minerals more generally, as in soil desalination, but our focus is on water desalination.

Water is desalinated in order to be converted to freshwater suitable for human consumption. It is used on many ships and submarines. Most of the modern interest in desalination is focused on developing cost-effective ways of providing freshwater for consumptions on ships.

For heating and evaporation of the sea water in the desalination unit, the waste heat in the jacket cooling water of the Diesel engine is used. The heat exchanger in the desalination unit is connected to the jacket cooling water system of the Diesel engine, and is thus working as an extra cooler.
